Thank You City Councilors for Restoring $100,000 to Visit Tulsa

Due to tough economic times, the City Council was recently looking at ways to increase revenues for the city. There was a misplaced idea that caught hold, resulting in $100,000 being moved from the Visit Tulsa budget to another budget area in the city.

Thanks to the efforts of THLA members, Visit Tulsa staff, and many hospitality partners, the City Councilors realized the importance of protecting the already limited resources of Visit Tulsa.

As the executive director of the TASM said, “…Because of the efforts of Visit Tulsa (CVB), we have had groups from outside Tulsa rent our museum to host dinners and events. …”

We agree, and, it seems, the City Councilors were convinced. The $100,000 has been restored to the Visit Tulsa coffers, back where it belongs: bringing visitors to Tulsa.

Visitors, who stay in our hotels, shop in our stores, rent cars and limos, eat in our restaurants and enjoy the many attraction and events Green Country has to offer.

Thank you City Councilors!

Did You Know?

Vision 2025 spent millions of tax payer dollars to attract NEW tourism dollars to Tulsa through the BOK Center, upgrades to the Tulsa Convention Center and Expo Square. Modern new facilities do not attract enough interest to sell themselves. Visit Tulsa staff, facility staff and hotel sales and marketing staffs must sell these facilities to potential users.

$100,000 in funding (to Visit Tulsa) results in $9,000,000 infused into the Tulsa economy.

Visit Tulsa has secured $162 million in future economic impact to our region. Because of these efforts, each Tulsan paid $380 less in taxes.

Visit Tulsa reports that tourism produces more than $1.4 billion in economic impact in Tulsa County annually and employs more than 25,000 individuals.

More information regarding tourism's impact on the local economy can be found at TulsaBusiness.com.
