About Metro Tulsa Hotel & Lodging Association
What is the Metro Tulsa Hotel & Lodging Association?
MTHLA is a non-profit trade association representing approximately 50 hotels in the Tulsa metro area; as well as over 40 hotel vendors. We are governed by a Board of Directors as well as bylaws.
The membership of the Metro Tulsa Hotel & Lodging Association consists of hotel owners, general managers and staff, facility owners, managers and staff and company sales representatives who provide products and services to the hospitality industry.
MTH&LA meets on a monthly basis, typically a luncheon format, at various member hotels and facilities.
MTH&LA’s History
Our association started in the 60′s as a means to bring local hoteliers together to discuss industry issues.
Today, MTH&LA’s members also include a growing number of hotel vendors. And we now provide all of our members with educational, economic, and social programs on a monthly basis.
Mission Statement
To effectively provide representation and education through relevant programs within the Tulsa lodging community for the purpose of communicating the value of the hospitality industry, locally, regionally, and state-wide; and to involve the membership in being committed to expanding and enlightening the industry as a whole.
Community Involvement
Each year, MTH&LA supports Food for Families (Community Food Bank of Oklahoma) to assist those in need
Over 12,000 pounds of canned food and approximately $1200 has been donated to this non-profit in the last five years. In 2009, 10,000 pounds were collected.
In addition, our members participate in the American Cancer Society Heartland Division’s guest room program; more than 1,000 room nights have been donated to cancer patients while undergoing intensive chemotherapy.
And blood drives located at member hotels’ have generated over 200 successful donors in the last three years for the American Red Cross.
Not to mention, we also support United Way’s “Day of Caring”, which brings together a 50+ volunteer group of member hotel employees to perform various chores for the Salvation Army’s Boys & Girls Club.
MTH&LA as well as individual hotel members provide the Annual Tulsa Area United Way Campaign each year with generous monetary contributions.
Last but not least, MTH&LA’s annual Golf Tournament uses some of the proceeds generated to support the First Tee Program of Tulsa. This program teaches underprivileged children valuable life skills while learning the game of golf.
